West Palm Beach Teen Accused of Possessing Child Porn
A monthslong, multistate investigation allegedly connected a West Palm Beach teenager to more than a dozen pornographic images of children.
The 19-year-old was arrested Tuesday on 17 counts of possessing child pornography. He was released later that day from the Palm Beach County Jail after posting a $17,000 bond.
A judge ordered that he have no contact with anyone under the age of 18. He cannot use the internet unless a judge rules otherwise.
In March, a North Carolina sheriff’s office received word that what appeared to be a pornographic image of a child was seen on an “application,” West Palm police records state. It is unclear on which application the “concerned citizen” saw the image.
A search of the IP address determined the image was linked to a West Palm Beach AT&T user.
Local authorities appeared to have learned of the allegations through the National Center of Missing and Exploited Children in July.
On Tuesday, West Palm Beach police and authorities with the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force searched the teen’s home on Congress Avenue as well as his iPhone and laptop.
They allegedly found 17 pornographic images of teenage boys in an encrypted cloud, records state.
