Tampa Man Charged with Sexual Assault of a Minor in Citrus County
A 37-year-old Tampa man was arrested and charged for lewd and lascivious exhibition and lewd and lascivious molestation on a person under 12.
Authorities said they were alerted in July 2015 of alleged sexual assaults against a 9-year-old girl that occurred in Citrus County and two other counties when she was visiting Florida.
Authorities claim the man knew the child and picked her up from another state to vacation together.
Authorities also allege that during that time, the girl was forced to do a number of inappropriate things with the man.
Authorities said the investigation was long and difficult because the suspect worked overseas and apparently refused to come back to the states.
Once the man returned to the U.S., he was located and arrested on the Citrus County warrant.
The man is being held on a $12,000 bond.
Sexual assault charges are often based on one person’s word against the other’s. In many sexual assault cases, there are no witnesses or physical evidence. Because of this, it is imperative that you have an experienced sex crime defense attorney on your side to prepare a hard-hitting defense strategy on your behalf. A thorough investigation and strong defense could lead to the sexual assault charges being dropped before trial.
