Pembroke Pines Coach Accused of Molesting Girl for Years
A 25-year-old coach of a youth league team was arrested Wednesday and charged with molesting a young girl for three years, according to Pembroke Pines Police.
The Pembroke Pines man was charged with 11 counts relating to the lewd and lascivious molestation of a child between 12 and 16 by a person over 18.
The alleged molestations began in April 2010, when the girl was 11, and ended in March of this year after the girl’s mother reached out to police. Detectives claim they interviewed the girl and she told them the man was a family acquaintance who molested her.
The man is described by police as a girls’ recreational and/or basketball travel team coach in Broward.
At a court appearance Thursday, the man’s attorney stated he was an insurance salesman who lived at home with his adoptive mother.
A Broward judge noted “a certain strength of the case,” and set bond at $30,000 with conditions that included the man must wear a GPS monitoring device, have no contact with the girl or other females under 18, must not reside with other children and must not leave Broward County.
Child molestation charges are considered especially heinous crimes to most people. Sadly, if you have been accused of child molestation or a similar offense, your friends and family may be quick to believe the allegations despite whether any truth is behind these claims. When it comes to sexual related offenses involving a child, police and prosecutors tend to side with the child before any facts can be proven. However, children can be easily influenced by adults and may not realize the full impact their statements can have. Once child molestation accusations have been made against you, it is in your best interests to contact a criminal defense attorney as soon as possible to ensure that your rights are protected.
If you have been arrested and charged with child molestation or any other type of sex offense involving a minor, you cannot just sit back and wait for these charges to go away on their own.
