Orange County Teacher Accused of Having Sex with a Minor
The man faces charges of sexual activity with a child. He was booked into the Orange County Jail around 2 p.m. Monday and was being held without bail.
The Sheriff’s Office believes the underage victim was sexually battered by the man “inside of a storage room on school grounds.”
The alleged incident supposedly took place in May, but wasn’t reported until Saturday, according to deputies.
Authorities released very few details of the circumstances of the incident Monday.
According to an Orange County Public Schools spokeswoman, the man has been “relieved of his duties” and is no longer employed by the county.
Officials claim that the man was teaching social studies at the time of the alleged sexual activity.
This semester, the man was teaching a job skills and resume-writing course to seventh- and eighth-grade students. He was also the coach for the boys track team.
Child sex crime charges are very serious. In fact, they might be the worst type of charges to face. The penalties are quite severe, and the state prosecutes these cases aggressively. Even though you are presumed innocent until proven guilty, it is not uncommon for members of the community to consider you guilty before your case even makes it to trial. If you are facing charges related to having sex with a minor or any other sex crime, make sure you speak with a Florida Sex Crimes Lawyer at Whittel & Melton who has the experience and skill to defend you.
