Ocala Man Found Guilty of Rape
A 34-year-old Ocala man has been found guilty on a charge of sexual battery on a person 12 years or older with the use of a deadly weapon.
Since the man is a prison re-offender who has committed a crime within three years of his release, he was sentenced to life in prison.
State records show the man was released in June 2017 after serving time for false imprisonment, felony battery and two counts of simple battery. Five months after his release, he was arrested by Marion County Sheriff’s deputies for raping a then 12-year-old girl not far from her residence.
The man told police he did not assault the girl.
