Lake County Teacher Gets License Revoked After Sex Crimes Conviction

Tavares, FL – A former Lake County teacher who was found guilty of a sex crime in Kentucky against a minor will not be able to teach in Florida again.

Florida officials revoked the former middle-school teacher’s license to teach last month. This comes after accusations in Kentucky including sodomy, sex with a minor and possessing child porn, according to reports.

The 26-year-old man was a seventh-grade math teacher in Groveland, but was terminated shortly after the 2013 allegations surfaced.

He allegedly admitted to having sex with a 14-year-old and having sexual conversations through text messaging, as well as sending and receiving pornographic photos through cell phones with the teenager, according to police reports.

The man ultimately took a plea deal last year for possession of child porn. The deal included serving 60 days in jail, giving up his teaching license, registering as a sex offender and serving 10 years on probation.
