The man known in Orlando as the “Hello Kitty” rapist, named for his identifying tattoo, was sentenced to life in prison Friday.
A judge sentenced the 25-year-old man to concurrent life terms, plus an additional 37½ years behind bars.
It took an Orange County jury a little more than an hour in July to find the man guilty of three attacks in a span of four years.
Prosecutors claim the man raped an Afghanistan war veteran at the Bellagio Apartments in 2010, and a college student at the Auvers Village Apartments in 2012. He apparently attempted to rape a woman in an Orlando IHOP parking lot in 2014.
There are very few crimes that conjure up so much controversy and emotion as that of rape. Rape is a serious crime in the state of Florida and one that can also be challenging to defend against. A rape conviction can have lifelong consequences, including years of imprisonment – possibly life, a criminal record, and a lifetime of registering as a sex offender. Rape is not a crime to be taken lightly, however, with a Florida Rape Defense Lawyer at Whittel & Melton, a rape charge does not have to mean a rape conviction.
At Whittel & Melton, our Florida Sex Crimes Lawyers have successfully defended countless individuals throughout Florida who have been charged with a sex crime.
