Key West has been placed in the limelight after authorities in the Florida Keys made their first arrest in Monroe County for sex trafficking.
According to the sheriff’s office spokeswoman, a man was arrested Saturday for allegedly forcing a North Carolina woman into having sex for money.
The woman told detectives the man provided her a place to stay and drugs in exchange for money she earned from sexual encounters he set up for her. The woman also told authorities the man set her up with a job at a strip club.
The woman claims the man threatened to beat her if she did not make money for him.
The woman apparently moved to the Keys in February with her boyfriend.
