72-Year-Old Man Accused of Sexually Battering Teen for Several Years
Land O’ Lakes, FL – A 72-year-old man was arrested Wednesday for allegedly raping a 17-year-old girl for three consecutive years.
Deputies believe the man had sex with the girl every week for the past three years, with the latest incident occurring two weeks ago.
The girl was apparently living with the man in his Brooksville home. She claims the man threatened her to keep quiet about their relationship.
After the girl told police her story, deputies had the girl call the man so that they could listen in on the conversation. During the telephone call, the man allegedly admitted to having sex with the girl.
The man was charged with two counts of sexual battery on a minor, and is being held at the Land O’ Lakes jail without bond.
Sexual battery charges are very serious, especially when they involve children. Often, the State has very little evidence to prove a crime actually occurred, so these cases come down to one person’s story of events versus the other. Members of the jury, judges and prosecutors tend to side with the victim in these cases, which is why you need an aggressive sex crimes defense attorney who can help you obtain the best possible results. Despite the evidence against you, a powerful defense can strengthen your case, resulting in reduced charges and penalties or possibly having the charges against you dropped altogether.
