12 Arrested in Polk County Child Porn Sting

Multiple suspects have been arrested for child pornography in Polk County.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office said 12 suspects were identified and arrested during their “Operation Guardians of Innocence III” for allegedly being involved in the possession, promotion and distribution of child pornography.

640 felonies have been filed against the suspects and more charges are pending, according to the sheriff’s office.

Child pornography laws make it illegal to produce, distribute, sell or simply possess such images. Ever changing technology and the Internet have made child porn charges skyrocket in recent years. Child pornography can be charged as a federal offense which can result in federal prosecution and severe sentencing, including years behind bars and mandatory sex offender registration for the rest of your life.

While simply possessing porn may seem like a minor offense, this crime must be taken seriously and defended aggressively. Sting operations happen every day across the country and are led by overzealous police officers and prosecutors looking to make a large number of arrests.
